To improve air quality, Beijing issued and implemented the Beijing Clean Air Action Plan 2013-2017 on 2013.

Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau today (3rd). Beijing's PM2.5 has fallen by a cumulative 35.6a year

over the past five years, according to the report card. In addition, the number of days in grade 1 has

increased by 25 days and the number of days of heavy pollution has fallen by 35 days.

According to news reports, the deputy director of the Beijing municipal environmental protection monitoring

center Liu Baoxian introduced today, PM2.5 in Beijing city last year the average concentration of 58

micrograms per cubic meter, compared with 2013 90 micrograms per cubic meter dropped to 32 micrograms

per cubic meter, a decline of 35.6%, completed 60 micrograms per cubic meter of the target put forward the

prevention and control of atmospheric pollution in the State Council "China action plan".

Bulletin data show that compared with 2013, the annual average concentrations of main pollutants in Beijing

decreased significantly in 2017, and SO2 (NO2), inhalable particulate matter (PM10) and fine particulate

matter (PM2.5) decreased by 70.4%, 17.9%, 22.2%, 35.6%., respectively.

In 2017, the annual concentration of SO2 decreased to single digits for the first time.

Between 2013 and 2017, the number of days Beijing has reached air quality standards has increased by 50

days, Liu said. The number of excellent days increased by 25 days; The days of heavy pollution were reduced

by 35 days, and the incidence of heavy pollution was obviously decreased. Under Beijing's five-year clean air

action plan, officials continue to guide non-capital efforts to clean up energy alternatives and reduce pollution.

In addition, four gas thermal power centers have been built and 39,000 tons of steam fired boilers have been

renovated or dismantled.

Over the past five years, Beijing has also eliminated two million one hundred and sixty-seven thousand old and

old high-emission motor vehicles, bringing the total number of new and clean energy vehicles to 200,000.

Adjustment out of printing, casting, furniture and other not in line with the capital function positioning and

pollution of the 1992 enterprises. In addition, it also investigated and dealt with 8,519 violations of the

atmospheric environment, with a total penalty of 210 million yuan. Air quality monitoring stations were

expanded from 35 to 67, and an integrated air quality monitoring network was established. Liu Baoxian stressed

that although the concentration of major air pollutants in Beijing has continued to decline, the total amount of

air pollutants emitted still exceeds the environmental capacity. He said that the concentration of pollutants such

as PM2.5, PM10, NO2 and other pollutants still exceeds the national standard, and that it is still a long-term,

complex and arduous process to achieve a fundamental improvement in the quality of the atmospheric

environment.
